is an excellent way to find out if you have
what it takes to get started and be successful
in voice-overs. You'll be on mic as you read
through a variety of commercial, narration
and audio book style scripts (all provided
free). You'll hear your voice played back
and receive an honest evaluation of your voice
quality and talent level. We'll also discuss
the potential "marketability"
of your voice and provide tips for overall
improvement. And you can ask as many questions
as you want!

learning workshops. |
If you're a "serious beginner"
this is a series of workshops for you to build
and strengthen your voice-over skills and
talent. In these 2 hour weekly sessions, you'll
be on the microphone a lot as you work with
a wide variety of commercial, narration and
audio book style scripts (all provided). You'll
explore your vocal range, attitudes and styles
and learn to adjust your energy and tempo
for each script. Learn how to analyze copy
and make good directorial decisions. You'll
get a ton of tips and suggestions to help
you improve your overall vocal delivery and
ability. Plus, you keep a copy of all your
sessions on CD!

Introduction to the Business of Voice-Overs:
Four Saturdays. 5/1 through 5/22.

To be successful in the voice-over business, you need more
than just a great voice. In this course, students will learn
the “nuts and bolts” of setting up and running their own voice-over
business. Topics include: types of business entities; organizational
skills; voice-over demos; the truth about agents and unions;
ways to promote yourself; how to handle an audition and voice-over
etiquette; why you need a voice-over web site; and home studios
and equipment. The course includes informative handouts. Prerequisite:
Introduction to Voice-Overs: Put Your Mouth Where the
Money Is! is recommended but not required.
Instructor: Stew "Beef Stew" Crossen.
For 13 years Stew hosted a popular radio program on 106.9
WCCC in Hartford and has worked for WHUS, WDRC, WMRQ, WPOP,
WHCN and WTMI. Stew is a business and broadcast professional
with more than 30 years total experience, including work as
a news anchor, rock DJ, program director, music director and
commercial voice-over producer for a variety of radio stations
and clients. Stew is a three-time award winning TV producer
and a 2008 recipient of a KBA award for commercial radio.
Stew is also the owner of the Voice Over Workshop LLc, a voice-over
and audio production company.
COMMUNICATION: You are encouraged to communicate
with me. I am available as a teacher, coach and mentor to
assist you in meeting your goals for this course. Primarily,
communication is in-person before or after class, via email
or by phone. For students of this course, I offer a reduced
rate for private, individual coaching and consulting at the
rate of $40.00 for 60 minutes. Please keep my
